About Me

I really can’t remember a time when I wasn’t cooking. From my pretend kitchen to a real one, food has always been an important part of my life. I believe that anyone can cook if they set their mind to it.

  1. I love your blog though I must admit your name caught my attention in a big way. Curious what the story behind your name “Minda” is? Only if you don’t mind, it is that my sister has the same name and we have never come across anyone other than an aunt and my grandmother who also share the name.

    • Hi! Glad you enjoy the blog. My name is actually Melinda but my niece couldn’t pronounce that as she was learning to talk. She named me Minda and the name stuck with my family and friends. Thanks for stopping by!

    • Wow! I thought the exact same thing. I also have a sister named Minda. Growing up others would often assume it was Melinda, but it is her birth name. My mom’s name is Merrilinda and her nickname when she was little was Minda; so my parents decided to name one of their daughters the same.

  2. While looking for a tahini free baba ghanoush recipe I tripped across “mindas cooking” and since I was born “Malinda” but have always gone by “Minda” since birth, I had to check out the blog, It is weird to see my name out there belonging to someone else. Interesting to note that as was the case with your niece not pronouncing the full name, when I was born, my 2 year old cousin had the same issue and everyone followed his version of Minda. When I was living near the Phillipines, I learned that Minda was not that unusual in PI, stemming from many of the islands having Mina in the name, i.e. Mindanow.
